PR Triple Sec White Curacao Citrus Liqueur Essence 20 ml
Leaf through any classic cocktail book and count how many recipes contain orange liqueur. Margarita, Cosmopolitan, Sidecar, White Lady, Kamikaze, Mai Tai – the list simply never ends. Triple sec is not the star of any of them, yet without it they all fall apart. It is the liqueur that binds spirit and acidity together and gives the drink its round, citrus-scented centre.
Triple sec is the clear, drier branch of the curacao family. There is no colour here to steal the limelight, only the pure taste of orange peel. PR Triple Sec Liqueur Essence is one of our real highlights – a fresh citrus liqueur based on three citrus fruits, which you mix yourself for a fraction of what a shop-bought bottle costs.
Colour & Appearance
The finished liqueur is water-clear and glossy, with a slightly slow, viscous movement in the glass that gives away the sugar. In a drink it cannot be seen at all – it lets lime, cranberry or lemon decide the colour.
Nose
The nose is clean and elegant: freshly grated orange peel, both the sweet kind and the bitter, with a delicate floral note of orange blossom hovering above. A little lemon and mandarin flit past, and a fresh, almost cool spirity lift carries the aromas.
Palate
The palate is drier than that of most fruit liqueurs. The sweetness is there, but it is kept in check by a taut, clean pithy bitterness that makes the liqueur lively rather than sticky. Orange oil dominates – clear and concentrated, like the scent of an orange being peeled in a cold room. Behind it come lemon and a floral nuance that adds finesse. The mouthfeel is smooth but light, and the liqueur melts into a cocktail without weighing it down. Sipped neat over ice, it makes a surprisingly good after-dinner drink for anyone fond of citrus.
Finish
The finish is long and clean. Orange peel and a fine bitterness fade out slowly, and the sweetness gives way to a fresh, almost thirst-quenching sensation.
How to Use
The essence is mixed with vodka or neutral spirit plus sugar. 20 ml makes 750 ml of finished liqueur. Instructions are on the label.
