Agave Blanco Brandy Essence 20 ml

No other spirit tastes like agave. It is green and sweet at once, peppery yet fresh, a little earthy and a little salty – a flavour that instantly brings to mind hot afternoons, salt-rimmed glasses and freshly squeezed lime. Blanco is agave spirit in its purest form: completely clear, with no oak or vanilla to soften it, and the plant’s own character in the driving seat.

Agave Blanco Essence gives you that character the easy way. The sweet, almost honeyed note of cooked agave is there, as are the citrus, the white pepper and the cool, mineral close. It is a spirit that comes alive in cocktails – no Margarita is ever better than the spirit you pour into it.

Colour & Appearance

The finished spirit is water-clear and brilliant, with a faint silvery sheen in the glass. It looks just as clean and cool as it tastes.

Nose

The nose is fresh and green. Cooked agave – sweet, a little like baked squash with honey – meets lime peel and grapefruit. Then come white pepper, freshly cut grass and green herbs such as mint and coriander, and deepest in, a note of wet stone and sea salt.

Palate

The palate is lively and clean. The soft sweetness of the agave arrives first and spreads across the tongue, but it never has time to turn heavy before the citrus cuts through with its acidity. White pepper gives a distinct, tingling bite in the middle, and the herbal notes – a little green pepper, a little mint – provide that vegetal character that sets agave spirit apart from everything else. The close is dry, mineral and ever so slightly salty, which explains why salt and lime go so well with it.

Finish

The finish is medium in length, clean and peppery. Agave, lime peel and a cool mineral note remain, along with a gentle warmth.

How to Use

The essence is mixed with vodka or neutral spirit and is ready to use straight away. 20 ml makes 750 ml of agave spirit. Instructions are on the label.

Serving Suggestions

• Margarita: agave spirit, orange liqueur and freshly squeezed lime in a salt-rimmed glass.
• Paloma with grapefruit soda, lime and a pinch of salt.
• As a shot with salt and a wedge of lime or lemon.
• With tonic or soda water, cucumber and plenty of ice.
• A splash in the marinade for grilled prawns, or in a mango and chilli salsa.

About the Essence

Agave Blanco is the essence for anyone who likes fresh, tangy cocktails and wants to be able to serve proper Margaritas without the drinks cabinet getting expensive. The clear, peppery style stands up to lots of lime and ice, and it works beautifully in modern cocktails with chilli, watermelon, pineapple or cucumber.
