Colour & Appearance

The finished schnapps is water-clear and bright. No colour gives the contents away – the surprise comes only when the glass nears your nose.

Nose

The nose is generous and sun-warmed. Ripe yellow peach dominates, juicy and a little honeyed, with white peach and apricot for company. There is also a distinct floral note – peach blossom and a little jasmine – and deep inside a faint almond nuance from the stone, which gives the aroma an elegant depth.

Palate

The palate is drier than the nose suggests, and that is exactly what makes it so good. The peach strikes up at once, fruity and aromatic, but with no sugar to weigh it down. In the mid-palate the floral side shows more clearly, together with a fresh tartness like that of peach skin. The almond note of the stone and a little peppery warmth from the spirit hold the close together. The mouthfeel is light and clean – a schnapps, not a liqueur.

Finish

The finish is medium-long, dry and fragrant. Peach skin, blossom and a hint of bitter almond remain and tempt you to another sip.

How to Use

The essence is mixed with vodka or neutral spirit and can be enjoyed straight away. 20 ml makes 750 ml of finished peach schnapps. Instructions are on the label.

• Well chilled in a small glass as a fruity schnapps with a summer buffet.
• With sparkling wine and a spoonful of peach purée – a drier Bellini.
• With iced tea, lemon and plenty of ice in a tall glass.
