PR Mia Theresa Coffee Liqueur Essence 20 ml – essence for a drier, elegant coffee liqueur
PR Mia Theresa Coffee Liqueur Essence turns spirit and sugar into an elegant coffee liqueur in the drier style – cold-brew coffee, vanilla, a light note of rum and a streak of cocoa.

Excellent for mixing cocktails and just as good on the rocks.
PR Mia Theresa Coffee Liqueur Essence 20 ml
Not every coffee liqueur is made to be a pudding. Mia Theresa belongs to the leaner school, where the coffee speaks more clearly and the sweetness is held back – a liqueur that bartenders like to reach for because it gives a drink coffee flavour without drowning it in sugar.
The result is an intriguing and slightly more grown-up coffee liqueur. It has a lightness that lets you drink it neat over ice without it ever feeling heavy, and an aromatic finesse that shows especially well in cocktails where every ingredient is meant to be heard.
Colour & Appearance
In the glass the liqueur is a dark coffee brown with red-brown, almost mahogany glints. It is lighter in body than the sweetest coffee liqueurs and moves easily in the glass, leaving thin, slow curtains along the rim.
Nose
The nose recalls cold-brew coffee – clean, aromatic and free of any burnt sharpness. Around the coffee you find vanilla pod, a little dark cocoa and a light, dry note of rum, with a touch of toasted hazelnut and soft brown sugar in the background.
Palate
The palate opens with clear, soft coffee that leans towards freshly brewed rather than towards toffee. The sweetness is there but steps aside and lets the aromas take their place: vanilla, cocoa nibs and a discreet rum warmth that adds length. In the middle comes a fine, dry bitterness – much like a square of dark chocolate – which makes the liqueur taut and elegant. The body is medium-full and the mouthfeel sleek, without the thick, syrupy feel that is otherwise so common in the genre.
Finish
The finish is long and strikingly clean. Coffee and cocoa fade out slowly, the vanilla stays on as a soft undertone and the close is drier than you would expect from a liqueur.
How to Use
The essence is mixed with vodka or neutral spirit plus sugar. 20 ml makes 750 ml of finished drink. Do let the bottle rest for a day or so before serving. Instructions are on the label.
Serving Suggestions
- On the rocks with one large ice cube and a strip of orange peel.
- In an Espresso Martini when you want a drier, more coffee-driven version.
- With dark rum and ice – two parts liqueur, one part rum – as an after-dinner drink.
- Topped up with tonic or soda water and a slice of lemon for a light coffee long drink.
- With cola and lime, or as the flavouring in a coffee and chocolate mousse.
About the Essence
Mia Theresa is part of the PR (Prestige) series and is the coffee liqueur for anyone who finds most of them too sweet. It is a rewarding tool for cocktail making, where it contributes coffee and vanilla without taking over, and a surprisingly good sipping liqueur in its own right.
Try standing it next to a sweeter coffee liqueur in the drinks cabinet – the difference is obvious and the two complement each other well. For professional users the essence is also available in 25 litres.
