PR Liqueur 45 Liqueur Essence 20 ml

Some liqueurs refuse to be pigeonholed. Liqueur 45 is a herbal liqueur, but without the bitterness and medicine-cabinet feel that the word tends to bring with it. Instead it is sunny yellow, smooth and scented with vanilla, built on a long list of spices, herbs and citrus fruits that melt together into something that most of all resembles liquid vanilla custard with orange.

It is a liqueur that has won friends all over the world in recent years, largely because it is so easy to use. It gets along with milk, with coffee, with fizzy drinks and with most things in the drinks cabinet – and it is at least as good entirely on its own over a couple of ice cubes.

Colour & Appearance

The colour is a bright golden yellow, like saffron or late-summer honey, and it glows beautifully in the glass. The liqueur is viscous and glossy, with a soft, almost creamy movement when you swirl it.

Nose

The nose is warm and inviting: vanilla pod and vanilla custard first, then orange peel, lemon and a floral note of orange blossom. Further in there are cinnamon, a little aniseed and green herbs – but everything is wrapped in sweetness and vanilla.

Palate

The palate is mild, sweet and velvety. Vanilla leads, dense and creamy, followed by candied citrus peel, ripe orange and a breath of orange blossom. The spices – cinnamon, a touch of cardamom and coriander – bring warmth without standing out, and the herbs add a small green, aromatic edge that keeps the liqueur from becoming one-dimensional. There is something of toffee and honey in the middle, and the spirit is barely noticeable. An unusually easy-drinking and friendly liqueur.

Finish

The finish is medium-long, sweet and vanilla-soft, with orange peel and a faint spicy warmth of cinnamon that is the last thing to fade.

How to Use

The essence is mixed with vodka or neutral spirit plus sugar. 20 ml makes 750 ml of finished liqueur. Instructions are on the label.

Serving Suggestions

• With ice – simple, cool and golden.
• With milk: one part liqueur to three parts cold milk is like liquid vanilla ice cream.
• With cola and a wedge of lime, or with a dash of bitters for those who want more edge.
• In a glass of ice with a freshly pulled espresso poured over – bittersweet and beautifully layered.
• With vodka and lemon in the shaker, or over fruit salad and vanilla ice cream.

About the Essence

Liqueur 45 is part of the PR (Prestige) series and is a true all-rounder – the one every guest enjoys, whether or not they usually drink liqueur. The vanilla also makes it very useful in desserts and baking.

Because it disappears quickly, the essence is also available in 280 ml, 1000 ml and 25 litres.
