Colour & Appearance

Once mixed, the vodka is perfectly clear and bright. Nothing in its appearance gives away the tropical interior, which makes the first sniff a very pleasant surprise.

Nose

The nose is floral and generous. Ripe pink guava dominates with its perfumed, almost rose-like fruitiness. Around it there is juicy pear, sun-warmed strawberries and a tangy glint of passion fruit. At the very centre lies a green, slightly peel-like note that keeps the aroma fresh, while the vodka’s clean grain character lends lightness.

Palate

The palate is light and fresh, just as the nose promises. First comes the soft, pear-like fruitiness, then a red-berry element reminiscent of strawberry and wild strawberry. Towards the middle the tropical side takes over with the tangy, aromatic sting of passion fruit. Because the vodka is dry, the fruit comes across as clean and true to life rather than sweet-shop sugary. The grain vodka gives a gentle warmth and a neutral base, and the low bitterness makes the drink very easy-going indeed.

Finish

The finish is medium-long, floral and clean. The guava’s perfume lingers for a good while along with a light tartness and a mild warmth. The close is dry, so your mouth feels fresh and ready for the next sip.

How to Use

The essence is mixed with vodka or neutral spirit and can be enjoyed straight away. 20 ml makes 750 ml of finished spirit. Instructions are on the label.

• Well chilled as a schnapps with grilled prawns, ceviche and other summer food.
• With lemon soda or a fruit soda and plenty of ice.
• With pineapple juice, lime and crushed ice for a tropical long drink.
