Cherimoya – or custard apple, as the fruit is also known – looks like a green, scaly cone but hides one of the most celebrated interiors in the fruit world. The white flesh is so creamy that you eat it with a spoon, and the flavour has been described as a ready-made fruit salad: banana, pineapple, pear and vanilla in one and the same mouthful. Many who have tasted it consider it the finest fruit there is.

PR Cherimoya Vodka lets you experience that flavour without hunting through the fruit counter. The essence lays the sun-ripened fruit over a clean grain vodka and gives a clear, dry flavoured vodka – fresh and clean, not sweet like a liqueur – with a character no other bottle in the drinks cabinet can offer.

Colour & Appearance

Once mixed, the vodka is as clear as spring water. The creamy impression lives entirely in the aroma, not in the appearance, and the drink moves lightly and brightly in the glass.

Nose

The nose is soft and many-layered. Ripe banana and vanilla cream meet fresh pineapple and juicy pear, and above them floats a faint note of coconut and white flowers. It smells of tropical dessert, but in a cool and clean way. The grain vodka’s neutral, slightly bready background stops the aroma from becoming heavy.

Palate

The palate opens softly with pear and banana, round and almost creamy even though the drink is dry. Then the pineapple arrives with a lively acidity that lifts the whole and gives it freshness. The vanilla ties the fruits together and leaves an impression of ice cream or custard, and at the very centre there is a suggestion of strawberry and citrus. As no sweetness has been added, the flavour is clean and elegant. The vodka’s warmth comes late and discreetly.

Finish

The finish is medium-long, smooth and fruity. Vanilla, pear and a faint pineapple tang linger, and the close is dry and clean with a soft warmth.

How to Use

The essence is mixed with vodka or neutral spirit and can be enjoyed straight away. 20 ml makes 750 ml of finished spirit. Instructions are on the label.

Serving Suggestions

• Lightly chilled as a schnapps to round off a summer dinner, ideally with fruit salad.
• With lemon soda or lemonade and plenty of ice.
• With pineapple juice and coconut milk for a lighter, drier take on a piña colada.
• With pear soda and a squeeze of lime.
• Shaken with egg white, lemon and sugar syrup into a silky-smooth sour.
