The table has been cleared, the coffee is out and someone is passing round those thin, dark chocolate squares with a mint filling. It is a ritual many people associate with successful evenings – and that is exactly the moment After Hours Chocolate Mint captures in a glass. The pairing of bittersweet chocolate and fresh peppermint is one of the most natural in the whole world of flavour, and as a liqueur it becomes dessert and digestif at one and the same time.

The name says most of it: this is the drink for the hours afterwards, when conversations grow longer and the pace slows down. Colour & Appearance

Once mixed, the liqueur is a dark chocolate brown with a deep, almost black-brown core. It is syrupy from the sugar and leaves glossy trails in the glass, and served cold it gains a dense, creamy weight.

Nose

The nose is a tug of war between two much-loved aromas. Dark chocolate and cocoa provide warmth and depth, while peppermint floats above, cool and clean. Together they smell exactly like opening a box of mint chocolates, with a little vanilla note in the background.

Palate

The palate opens with soft, sweet chocolate – more dark than milk, with a clear cocoa character. A moment later the mint strikes and wraps everything in a cool, chilling sensation that spreads across the tongue. The beauty lies in the balance: the chocolate stops the mint from turning toothpaste-sharp, and the mint stops the chocolate from becoming too rich. Vanilla and a slight creamy roundness tie the whole together.

Finish

The finish is long and two-layered. The chocolate fades first, while the cool peppermint stays on and leaves the mouth fresh, with a faint cocoa note right at the back.

How to Use

The essence is mixed with vodka or neutral spirit and sugar. 20 ml makes 750 ml of finished liqueur. Instructions are on the label.
